Focusing on our tapping is not always easy. It can be difficult to find words when we start (even when you become an expert!) Sometimes, it is simply easier to use a formula and adapt it. Ho'oponopono is ideal in these situations.
In case you never heard of it, Ho'oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian healing method based on the principle that we all have an impact on the world around us. Therefore, it is up to us to take responsibility for it. PLEASE NOTE that I didn't mention guilt or blame here. Without getting involved in deep philosophical considerations, and even without fully adhering to this concept, try and use this magic formula and see what happens: I love you, I'm sorry, please forgive me, thank you.
No need for the karate chop point in this case, just go from the top of the head down.
For example, thinking about a person: one of your work colleagues is difficult, or a neighbour, or you are worried for a loved one... Try to do one full round (or 2, or 3, or more!) repeating this on each point:
John (or Lucy or whoever...), I love you, I'm sorry, please forgive me, thank you.
If this is a person you truly love, you'll probably feel comfortable enough saying this once, or motivating yourself to keep at it for a few days until you don't feel the need for it.
If this is a person you don't really love, or even really don't love, I have witnessed a whole range of outbursts, from deep anger to uncontrollable laughter, just thinking about giving such a speech to that particular person. However, all the clients who chose to follow this suggestion eventually noticed that the situation had improved, sometimes drastically. Some even do this on public personae who used to trigger in them unwanted feelings such as fear, disgust, annoyance, sadness, anger, etc..
If your bad feeling is very strong and sustained (a work colleague who really is making your life a misery, a child with whom communication is difficult (teenagers, we love you!), a person you are caring for and who is difficult, either due to their personality or due to a disease), I'd suggest to do this daily for a few rounds EVERY DAY for 3 to 4 weeks.
You can also adapt this to yourself, For example about your health. Identify which body parts make you suffer and direct your thoughts towards that part.
My head, I love you, I'm sorry, please forgive me, thank you. My immune system ... my muscles... my cells... my knee...
If you feel you have body image or weight issues, focus on the part of your body you don't like:
My belly, I love you, I'm sorry, please forgive me, thank you. My hips.. my cellulite... my double chin...
It obviously does not replace common sense, a good diet, physical exercise or medical procedures when necessary. It's simply an added support on your way towards your well-being. Have fun adapting this towards varied targets. Did this help? Share your experience below or feel free to contact me for any questions. Thank you.
